Bravo!!  Ian Dobie and Allison George, both violinists in the Boise High Chamber Orchestra & Symphonic Orchestra, just returned from a "once in a lifetime" experience in New York City .  They were both chosen, through auditions in the summer, to perform in the National Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall (Presented by Mid-America Productions).  They had the tremendous opportunity to perform under the direction of Benjamin Zander, conductor of the Boston Philharmonic and professor at the New England Conservatory.  The orchestra consisted of high school and college students from all over the country.  Ian and Allison were both chosen to play in the first violin section.  The orchestra rehearsed for 16 hours together over the period of two and a half days, then played the final concert in Carnegie Hall on Sunday evening (January 14, 2007).  The orchestra performed the Tchaikovsky "Symphony No.5".

–Mrs. Hartman

Varsity Girls Basketball:  The Lady Braves lost a close contest to Borah on Saturday night, 43-42, at Boise High.  Starting point guard Macy Egerman went down with a sprained ankle early in the first quarter, however the team rallied behind its excellent fan support and continued to play hard.  Senior Kayla Kumar stepped up her game as floor leader in Egerman's absence.  Complimenting her play was an impressive 14 point/15 rebound effort by freshman Jordin Juker and some key three pointers by junior Kristen Simonson.
The ladies may have "been behind" when the final buzzer sounded, but their efforts were much enjoyed by the Brave Faithful! Just two home games remain, and you don't want to miss out on an opportunity to check out this team on the rise!  Come support the team at their rematch with Capital on Saturday, January 27th and to show your appreciation for our seniors in their last home game on Tuesday, January 30th.  GO BRAVES!   --Coach Brydges

Sophomore Boys Basketball:  The Sophomores dropped a tough game to Borah on Friday night losing 36 - 51. Tony Schmitz led the charge for the Braves with 8 points and 8 rebounds.  Gregg Simonds added 7 points and Zack Fox dished out 4 assists. This week the boys travel to Eagle HS on Tuesday and are at home against the Capital Eagles on Thursday.  –Coach Lange

Varsity Hockey Update:  Boise High Hockey improved their record to 11-3-2 with a 6-0 win over Eagle on Friday night.  The team played quite well and was led by a hat trick by Jimmy Ottomeyer and an impressive shut-out by sophomore goalie, Eric Lyons.  Braves hockey will be finishing their regular season schedule with games on January 26 at 8:00 pm vs. Centennial and February 9 at 9:30 pm against Canyon County .  Both games will be played at Idaho Ice World.  Please come out and support Braves Hockey as it tunes up for post season play!  --Coach Beckett

JV Hockey News:  The JV Braves defeated the BK Knights on Saturday for our 4th win of the season.  BK began the game with no goalie - but once Eagle's goalie came to fill in, we scored 3 goals to their 1.  The Braves played hard and earned the victory.  This game was a nice way to rebound from last week's game against Centennial and a great way to go into a 3 week break with our next game being February 10 against Eagle. –Coach Cindrich
