2007 Boise State University Science Competition—Congratulations to the students of Boise High that competed in the Boise State University Science Competition on Feb. 3rd, 2007.  Boise High was the overall winner of the competition.

Individual results:  Kyle Antonini-- 1st in Math, 1st in Physics, 2nd in Engineering, and 1st place overall. He was awarded an $18,000 scholarship to BSU.   Nick Huang--2nd place overall and received and $18,000 scholarship to BSU.

Team results: Mathematics-- Boise High 1st place:  Kyle Antonini, Nick Urlaub, Maya Nair, and Nick Huang.   Biology-- Boise High 2nd place: Ethan Segreto, Kyle Antonini, Emma Kershisnik, and Hunter Thornfeldt.  Chemistry-- Boise High 2nd place:  Walker Grimshaw, Mark Sedlacek, Nick Huang, and Maya Nair.  Engineering--Boise High 1st place:  Nick Huang, Kyle Antonini, Brian Norman, and Nikolas Urlaub.   Physics-- Boise High 2nd place:  Kyle Antonini, Nick Huang, Nikolas Urlaub & Ethan Segreto. Geology - Boise High 2nd place: Alex Grover, Jennifer Warner, Kyle Antonini & Emma Kershisnik. OVERALL-- Boise High 1st place:  Kyle Antonini, Nick Huang, Maya Nair, and Ethan Segreto.

The Jazz Ensemble will play at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho , Saturday, February 24.  We will compete against other high school jazz bands for the opportunity to play in the Kibbie Dome Saturday evening and will have the opportunity to hear outstanding jazz artists from throughout the world!  We (and all of the groups) prepare 6 pieces, from which will be selected our 3 to be performed. –Mr. Smyth

 

Talent Show applications are due today, Monday, Feb. 12!!  Please bring them to room 328 or you won’t be able to try-out on the 14-15th.  All acts are welcome!!

 

ART CLUB…your project is a mural that will be in the art hall.  We are accepting art related designs.  Designs are due by Friday, Feb. 16, to room 331.

 

Book Clubbers:  Next month’s read is - Jane Austen’s Emma.  It is now available in the library.  Please return your copy of The Alchemist to avoid fines.

 

Cat Club….the new club will have its first meeting on Thursday, Feb. 15, during lunch in room 312.  Join us for the upcoming event and Lauren Brassey National Brownie Bake-off brownies.

 

National Honor Society class of 2008…. come to the orientation meeting Thursday, Feb. 15, at 12:10 in the auditorium.  Mr. Whittier will go through the application process with you.

Varsity Girls Basketball --On Tuesday, the Lady Braves lost a nail-biter of a game to Centennial High School in the district semi-final.  The Patriots jumped out to a 20-10 first quarter lead however the Braves fought back and pulled it to a four point game at halftime.  The third quarter was played fairly even between the two SIC rivals, but in the fourth the Patriots pulled away by eleven points, what many believed to be for good.  However, the rowdy Brave Faithful encouraged the ladies to keep fighting and an impressive comeback in the last
