Varsity Girls Basketball Season Wrap-Up --The Varsity Girls Basketball team rounded out their successful season in winning fashion last weekend.  After suffering a tough 58-50 first-round loss to Twin Falls on Thursday, the opening day of the Idaho State tournament, the ladies were faced with a formidable task of meeting league rival Borah in the consolation bracket.  The Lions had previously bested the Braves during both regular season match-ups, but the tides changed for Friday's contest.  The Braves, led by the inspired forces of Freshman Jordin Juker (12 points, 17 rebounds) and Senior Kelsie Clegg  (16 points, 8 rebounds), outplayed the Lions in this true test of pride.  Senior Kayla Kumar and Junior Kristen Simonson also did their part in the win with 13 points and 12 points respectively, closing the door on Borah's prior domination 62-51.

Friday's win seeded the Braves in one final game of the season against league foe Centennial in an early-morning contest played at Columbia High School .  Coach Brydges again preached pride and heart as she prepared her team to face the Patriots who had won all three previous matchups during the season.  The Braves jumped out to an early lead thanks to a sharp-shooting Kristen Simonson and never trailed in the game.  Simonson ended the game with a team-high 15 points with Juker contributing 10, and Junior point guard Macy Egerman chipping in 9 to seal the win.  Saturday's win helped the Braves post a respectable 19-7 season record and earned them the Consolation Championship trophy denoting 5th place overall.  It especially was a sweet end for our seniors Kelsie Clegg, Kayla Kumar, Danielle Ariss, Brittany Rhoades, and Barbara Gardner.  They will be greatly missed next year!

A special thank you goes out to all who have supported the Lady Braves this year!  We've been fortunate to have such great representation by our fans, our cheerleaders, our pep band, and members of the community!  We hope to see you in the gym again next winter season!  GO BRAVES! –Coach Brydges

JV Boys Basketball Season wrap-up --The Braves wrapped up their season with a tough home loss to Caldwell in a game where the offense could not get untracked losing 46 to 39.  Craig Ode led in scoring with 7, Steven Carson and Erik Nielsen added 6 and Nick Hill had 5.  Ode also led in rebounds with 5 and Ian Rumpp pulled down 4.  Craig Ode was the leading assist maker with 3.

Overall the Braves finished with a record of 8 wins and 12 losses.  The JV league was very balanced and the Braves were very competitive evidenced by their season averages of scoring 54.8 points per game and giving up 54 points per game.  The JV Braves of 2006-2007 were Cameron Lorensen, Nick Hill, Steven Carson, Erik Nielsen, Ian Rumpp, Grayson Laurino, Casey Coberly, Craig Ode, Zach Hill and Cooper Findlay.  For the season Ian was the leading scorer, followed by Craig, Cooper and Nick.  Craig led in rebounding, followed by Cooper, Zach and Grayson.  Erik was the leader in assists followed by Casey.  Erik also led in steals followed by Grayson, Cooper and Nick.  Craig was the swat king, blocking more shots than the rest of his team combined.  Ian was the leading three point shooter followed by Nick.  Ian led in free throw percentage; Cooper had the most free throws made. –Mike Hill

Sophomore Boys Basketball - The sophomore boys ended their season on a positive note last Tuesday, beating Caldwell HS by ten, 64 - 54. Zack Fox led the way with 14 points, and Max Chambers saved his best performance for last, chipping in 9 points and many rebounds. The game was an overall team performance with every teammate helping out in the effort. Unfortunately our record kept us out of the district tournament, but we ended the season with a win and the young men showed great improvement over the season. Thanks to everyone involved and your support over the season. See you next year!  --Coach Lange

JV Hockey Update --The Braves played Meridian tough with a short-handed squad, but came up short 6-3.  We have 2 regular season games remaining, then on to the playoffs.  Come on out and support the team.  Go Braves! –Coach Cindrich

Congratulations to our Wrestling team who qualified five wrestlers for State at the 5A District Three championships last week. Kelly Strough, Ryan Ayres, Ray Ayres, David Nathan, and Hugh Thornton all will represent Boise High School at the State Meet in Pocatello starting this Thursday.  Way to go, Braves!

Results are in from the community school calendar survey. The online survey, which was conducted in November and December 2006 by the Boise School District, asked parents and District staff members for input regarding possible changes to the starting and ending dates for the 2008-09 school year. “The results do not indicate sufficient support for changing the current school calendar,” said District Calendar Committee Chairman Joe Gordon. “Therefore, we will continue to stay with the traditional school calendar.”
