READY…..ACTION!!  The Red Carpet Film Festival is back!! This year marks our 3rd consecutive celebration of Boise High’s talented student filmmakers.  Applications for submission are now available in room 313.  Films will be due April 10 and the Festival happens on April 26.  Roll those Cameras!  Any questions see Ms. Brydges!!

T.R.E.E. (Teens Restoring Earth’s Environment) Club is a student club for students who have an interest in, and appreciation of a healthy environment:  clean air, clean water, clean cities, nature and natural spaces.  The club’s goals are to educate students about local, national and international environmental issues, as well as provide opportunities for students to get involved in their local community.  The TREE Club has been active in a number of local events, such as the Boise River Clean-Up, Rake Up Boise, and the Boise Earth Day celebration.  Members of the TREE Club have also assisted local environmental organizations (Idaho Rivers United, Snake River Alliance, Sierra Club), as well as served on the planning committee for the Earth Day celebration.  The club is headed this year by Breanne Gratton, a junior here at Boise High.  About every other year, the TREE Club raises money to take a trip to Yellowstone during President’s Day weekend.  This year, a group of 18 students, and five adult chaperone/drivers took the trip to our first national park.  It was a jam-packed weekend with hikes around the Mammoth Hot Springs area, soaking in the natural hot springs , wildlife watching, snow shoeing, ice skating, and even a few snowball fights.  The group saw all kinds of wildlife: bison, coyotes, elk, bald eagles, bighorn sheep….and even wolves! –Mr. Quissell

Boise High's Focus the Nation Global Warming initiative group will begin a "carbon diet" on Tuesday, March 6, in Ms. Nuxoll's room, 523.  The classes are after school and go until 4:00.  All interested students and adults are welcome to attend.  Help save the planet by learning what you can do to make your carbon footprint small.

A.P. ticket sales for the AP exams begin TODAY, Monday, March 5.  Avoid the long lines in the counseling office and get your fees paid today!!  The cost is $83.00 per test and is payable through the ASB Office!

Cat Club is looking for an artist to a draw a logo for the Cat Club t-shirts.  You can submit your drawings to Wil Uebelacker or Tom Lee.  The winner will receive a free cat club t-shirt.  There will be $1.00 entry fee for non-cat club members!

The Chamber Orchestra will perform the same program they will be presenting at this year’s National Orchestra Festival at 3:30 pm in the Auditorium.  It’s free and open to the public.

Here’s what’s happening in the Career Center this week:

--Seniors, come check out the many scholarships still available; several are for Boise High students only

--Sophomores and Juniors and their parents:  There is a college planning meeting Tues, March 6, in the cafeteria at 7:00 pm.

Club Photos: If you are a club adviser, please be prepared to come with your club to the new gymnasium at lunch on Friday, March 9, for club group photos by Dorian studios. These will be the ONLY GROUP photos of the club in the yearbook!! We are on a crunch for time and this is the best way to get all clubs featured! This means:  Cat Club, Fat Tire, Art Club, Rocket Club, History Club, NHS, Key Club, FCCLA, Tri-M, Mock Trial, Drama Club, Amnesty International, Tree Club, French Club, Spanish Club, German Club, Latin Club, Recycling, News Production, Yearbook, Ski Team, Golf, Dance Club.  If I missed anyone, please let me know and we will get you in!  Please spread the word to your organizations and show up on the 9th at lunch! There will be announcements all week, but you will help make this happen if you encourage your club to show! This is very important to our yearbook coverage! Thank you for your cooperation!

More from the Yearbook staff: Play a sport?  Danced at school?  In a play?  How would you like those memories to last forever?  Yearbook is asking for video footage from any spot, dance, club, or just about anything! Please come to room 428 or talk to Madeline McConnell or Kelly Woodward.

Recycling Club-- Don’t get “canned”….. mandatory meeting to plan the Spring Fund Raiser.  Please meet in Room 516 during break on Tuesday, March 6.

Congratulations to the Drama Dept. for the wonderful performances last week of "Curious Savage" and "You Can't Take It With You".  These were both so much fun and the idea of doing two performances on the same set during the same week was very thoughtful and risky, but successful!  We think you all did fantastic jobs in your roles of acting, costuming, directing, lighting, etc.  Kudos to Mr. Eshelman and all of the BHS Drama Dept.  We look forward to what you have in store for us next.....follow the Yellow Brick Road , oh my.  We're not in Kansas anymore!!!! – Dixie Dykman, BBB President
