Choir News --Kelly Woodward was chosen as one of 6 individuals from the Boise schools to attend the Portland "Music Education National Conference" and to sing in an All Northwest Combined Choir.  She was unable to attend, but for her to be invited is a pretty big feat.  Nicole Lemas was honored to sing the National Anthem at the Girls State Basketball tournament and at the Boy's District Basketball Tournament.  Lexi Benner was honored to sing at the State Legislature's celebration of Lincoln Day.  She sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic for the Senate, Mayor and Governor.  The choir is currently preparing for the Metro District Festival on April 10th--Chamber Choir will be traveling to Salt Lake April 12th -15th.  The Wizard of Oz production will be May 3rd, 4th, & 5th.  This production involves 7 different schools-4 elementary schools will provide munchkins and the Junior High schools will be monkeys. – Mr. Swenson

Book Club --For its March selection, the Boise High Book Club has chosen Freakonomics :  A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything, by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner .  In this bestseller from 2006, the authors argue "that many apparent mysteries of everyday life don't need to be so mysterious: they could be illuminated and made even more fascinating by asking the right questions and drawing connections."  The authors examine everything from poverty, violent crime, and drug-dealing gangs to socioeconomic status and baby names. The Book Club will meet on Thursday, April 5 during lunch to discuss the book.  Copies are available from the Boise High Library or the Boise Public Library. –Mrs. St. Tourangeau

Here’s what’s happening in the Career Center this week:

--Attention juniors- If you are a high-achieving low-income student, you have a chance to attend one of the nation’s best colleges with the Quest Bridge Scholarship.  Application deadline is March 31.

--The Army National Guard will be available for questions Thurs, March 15, noon.

-- Albertson College will be here at noon on Fri, March 16.  This would be an excellent time for juniors to talk about applications for next year.     Mr. Hanson

Congratulations to the 2007 Boise High National Merit Finalists: Kyle Antonini, Amanda Baker, Nate Coffman, Elizabeth Corrick, Mackenzie Fuentes, Nicholas Huang, Abigail Lute, Luke Maher, Logan May, Stephen Moncrief, Zachary Moorhead-Rosenberg, Kristin Robertson, Kathrin Sears, Alexandra Snow, Luke Studebaker, and Hunter Thornfeldt.  Well done!

Two Boise High students placed first on the National German Exam – Will Von Tagen at Level 4 and Brendan Rickerd at level 2.  Glückwunsch!

Hats off to Boise High Counselor and AP coordinator, David Chehey.  He was elected to serve a three-year term on the CollegeBoard Western Regional Assembly's Guidance and Admissions Committee.  Mr. Chehey is the only delegate member from Idaho .  Way to go, Mr. Chehey!

Amnesty International meeting is this Tues, March 13, at lunch in Room 531.  Bring your lunch and come ready to tackle some important human rights!
