The student body officers for the school year 2007 -2008 have been elected.  They are Assoc. Student Body President: Allison Dykman, ASB Vice President: Jeremy Kainger, Recording Secretary:  Erin Burt, Corresponding Secretary: Maddie Williams and Treasurer:  Grant Blakesley.  Congratulations and good luck next year leading Boise High!

 

Boise High Art Department’s Spring Art Show will be Thurs, May 3, on the 2nd floor of Boise High, 6:00-8:00 p.m. featuring paintings, drawings, pottery and other artwork created by Boise High students.

 

Students from Boise, Borah, Capital, Mountain Cove, and Timberline high schools will unveil their juried artwork and writing at the Valley Visions celebration on Monday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Road. Valley Visions is the Boise Independent School District ’s high school literary arts magazine. Students will either read their published works or display their art at this year’s celebration. Copies of the 2007 issue of Valley Visions will be available for purchase on April 30 for $10 each.

 

The Red Carpet Film Festival is back!!  This year marks our third consecutive celebration of Boise High’s budding film talent.  Please consider coming out to support those students as we display their work Thursday, April 26.  It will be in the auditorium at 6:00 PM and admission is free.  Feel free to give a donation at the door to keep the festival going!!

 

Antidisestablishmentarianism!  Hoopla!  Snickle Fritz!  All book club members, the meeting for Freakonomics is at lunchtime on Thursday the 26th of April!  It’s not too late to start so read on and come on down to the library on the 26th!  The book club will also be participating in the Big Read this year so for more information come to the meeting.  This year’s read is A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway so seize your chance to read a classic! 

 

The hour is nigh!!  Find your dates for the Casino Royale Prom 2007!!   Wednesday – Friday, April 25-27, pre-sale tickets will be available for $13.00 with activity card and $15.00 without!! Students, remember if you come to the Prom you must be a Junior or a Senior and a student of Boise High.  If you plan to bring someone from another school, you must sign them up in the attendance office.

 

Prom chaperones needed!!  Attention all parents!!  The prom planning committee is in desperate need of chaperones for our 2007 Prom!  We need as many volunteers as possible for Friday, April 28, 2007.  The dance will be from 8-11 pm.  Your help is needed!  If you are able to chaperone, please contact Alyssa Thueson at 863-7196 or at city_girl_3@hotmail.com. Boise High FCCLA Earns Award: Sherry Privatsky and Stephanie Wallace earned “GOLD” in the FCCLA (Family, Career & Community Leaders of America) Chapter Showcase Display. They are the first team from Boise High to earn “gold” in four years. The competition was held April 13-14 at the Doubletree Riverside.  

 

Senior Corner

-- Ticket sales for the “All-Night Party” have begun!! Go to Senior Hall and buy early; they will be sold weekly until Friday, May 25!!

--Do you want your voice to be heard as the year draws to a close??? Boise Highlights will be handing out surveys which will feature your fond farewells in the upcoming Senior Issue.  Surveys will be distributed on Tues, May 1 & will be picked up on Wed, May 2.

-- Room 312 will be open to you until the last week of school!  Free tutoring is available during lunch, for any senior in need of academic help to pass your classes.  We have teachers and your peers volunteering their help.  Posters are posted in the halls starting this week!!  We also will have flyers in the counselor’s office.  June 7th is graduation and we’d love to have you be a part of the class of 2007!!

-- If any senior did not pick up their announcements last Monday, they can be picked up at the Josten’s office right next door to West Side Drive-in on State Street !

 

Parent of seniors, please volunteer to help with the preparations for the 2007 Graduation Festivities:  sell tickets, collect donations and prizes, help with senior picnic and chaperone at the "007" all night party at Boondocks.  Get connected by emailing lynnetto@cableone.net or call Lynnette Chandler at 345-9404.  Your participation is needed to make these events happen!!!

 

Career Center News:

--Are you an artist or musician?  Now you’ll have the opportunity to get your name out there!  On May 19, join the Peace Alliance at a coffee shop to display your art or perform your music while bystanders watch!  Sign up in the Career Center today!

-- Boise City Jump Start – application are available on line at www.cityofboise.org This is a great internship for high school students.

--KBCI-TV –is again offering a Summer Internship Program for students interested in learning about the broadcasting industry.

--St. Luke’s – is offering a “Summer Only” Junior Volunteer Programs.  This is a great way to support your community and earn some valuable service hours.

Driver’s Ed—Space is available in June and July for driver’s education.  There will be a second registration on Wed, April 25 at Valley View Elementary School at 10:00 a.m.  A permit must be purchased before you are able to register.
