Boise Rotary Century Scholars – Twenty-one Boise High seniors were named among the Boise Rotary Century Scholars Top 100 Graduating Seniors.  Congratulations to Kyle Antonini, Tony Blahd, Nate Coffman, MacKenzie Fuentes, Manon Gentil, Rebecca Goodwin, Nicholas Huang, Janae Korfanta, Abby Lute, Maren Mabbutt, Luke Maher, Logan May, Zachary Moorhead-Rosenberg, Maya Nair, Gretchen Schulz, Kathrin Sears, Mark Sedlacek, Alexandra Snow, Sophie Starchman, Luke Studebaker, and Nikolas Urlaub.  Congratulations also to the following Boise High teachers who were named as significant educators by the scholars: Scott Arnold, Robert Bellomy, Sally Husted, Stephanie Keeney, Patrick Lecertua, Heidi Pluska, Sarah Quilici, John Salvadori, Kathy Schafer, David Scott, Laura Shoup, Jeffrey Smith, Larry Stamps, Matt Swenson, Tatia Totorica, and Frank Whittier.  Honorees were recognized at a banquet in their honor last Wednesday at BSU.

Pops Concert --Come to Boise High’s Orchestra and Band Pops Concert on Tuesday, May 8 at 7:00 pm.  It will be a great night full of fun songs.  See you there!!

Class officers for next year’s senior and junior classes have been elected.  Representing the senior class will be: President--Zachariah Clark, VP--Sammy Ruigu, Treasurer--Shelby Soule, Secretary--Jacquie Sahlberg.  The junior class officers will be: President-- Katherine Forsythe, VP-- Riley Jones, Treasurer--Matt Baker, Secretary--Roxie Shealy.  Spirit Council members are: B--Ben Frey, O--Brent Brady, I--Nichole Shumway, S--Brianna Yates, and E--Hannah Drabinski.

Congratulations to Boise High seniors MacKenzie Fuentes, Kristin Robertson, Luke Studebaker, and Alexandra Snow who were awarded $2500 National Merit Scholarships.  These students were chosen from approximately 15,000 finalists in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Four of the five Boise District student recipients were from Boise High.  Way to go!

 

Hats off to Emily Bergquist who received Honorable Mention in the Idaho Human Rights Art Contest. Students will be honored at a recognition ceremony at the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial on Tues, May 8.

 

Career Center News:

--The City of Boise Internship program has extended the deadline for one more week.  Check in the career center for details on how to apply.

--Do you like money?  Want to own your own business?  Then check out Idaho Business Week.  More information and applications available in the career center, hurry the deadline is May 18th.

--From Mayor David Bieter - The City of Boise is seeking the brightest and most energetic young leaders of our community to serve on the city's boards and commissions for 2007-2008.  If you have a serious interest and would like to contribute to this kind of challenging public service please submit an application today.  Information and applications available in the career center. Hurry!  The deadline is Friday, May 18th.

-- Are you an artist or a musician?  Now you’ll have the opportunity to get your name out there!  On Sat, May 19, join the Peace Alliance at a coffee shop to display your art or perform your music while bystanders watch!!  Sign up in the Career Center today!

 

Amnesty International members--We will have an important meeting Tues, May 8, at lunch in Room 531 to elect officers for next year and discuss some important events coming up.

 

National Honor Society--CLASS OF 2008. There will be a pre-induction meeting today, Mon, May 7 at 12:20 pm in the auditorium.  If you plan to be in tonight’s induction ceremony, don’t miss it!! The NHS officers from the class of 2007 also need to attend.

 

Boise Parents of English Language Learners End-of-Year Annual Awards and Celebration Night! This event will honor K-12 District ELL students who have made great gains this past school year. The gains can be in the area of language development and/or academic achievement. Please join us at the Borah High School Auditorium Thurs, May 10 at 6:00 p.m. for multicultural entertainment, awards presentation and refreshments.
