Varsity Tennis--The Varsity Braves took the 4th place trophy for State this year, thanks to some top performances by the girls. Amy Bettis is the state singles champion. Fiona Mok and Courtney Sparks gathered their SECOND championship for girls doubles. Tom Lee kept the boys on the podium as he and partner Chelsea Patton took 3rd in mixed doubles. Varsity letters and a TON of academic achievement awards were handed out at our spirit party May 7. We will miss our seniors, but we only graduate a couple, so the Braves will be back next season with a load of "veterans!" Great season Braves...see you next year!--Carol Writer

Track and Field-- The Braves Track and Field team had a very good State Meet weekend. Thursday, the Girls 3200 meter run started the meet and 3 Brave runners contended the entire race all the way to the finish. Jacque Sahlberg finished 6th, Sarah Olson 5th and Anne Lovelace 2nd. In the Boys 3200 meters Eric Fitzpatrick was 3rd and Nick Bolinder 2nd. Tina Connolly finished 3rd in the Pole Vault to finish out the Braves scoring on Thursday. On Friday Dana Lapinel and LaShawn Williams started out the Braves scoring in the 100 meters, Dana finished 5th and LaShawn 2nd. Next up for the Brave's scoring was the Girls 800 meters. In a great display of team running Sarah Olson was 2nd, Jacque Sahlberg 3rd and Anne Lovelace 4th. Dana Lapinel ran again in the 400 and finished 6th. Raymond Smith Jr. saved his best effort of the year in the final of the 400 meters and placed 3rd. LaShawn and Dana ran once again in the 200 meters, Dana placing 7th and LaShawn 3rd. In the Girls 1600 meters, the trio of Brave runners once again proved they are among Idaho 's best: Sarah Olson was 3rd, Anne Lovelace 4th and Jacque Sahlberg 7th. For the Boys, Eric Fitzpatrick placed 4th and Nick Bolinder 3rd. And, finally, Will Uebelacker placed 4th in the Long Jump. The Boys scored 35 points and were 10th over all; the Girls scored 74 points and placed 3rd for the second year in a row.

The team awards will be presented Wednesday, May 23, in the Cafeteria following school.

The coaches want to thank all of the students that participated this season and also want to thank all of the parent volunteers this season as well. We could not have had the great year we did without your efforts.—Coach Mills

Varsity Baseball-- Braves Win Consolation Baseball Title

Boise rebounded from a tough loss in the first game of state to take the consolation title on Saturday.  On Thursday, Boise faced Mountain View in a rematch of the district semifinal game. The Braves were ahead 3-1 in the fifth inning, when a series of walks and hit batsmen resulted in a 3 run rally for the Mavericks. The final score was 5-3, Mt. View .

Friday's game matched the Braves against Twin Falls . Jeff Barto dominated the Bruins, tossing a 2-hitter and running his record to 8-1 on the season, and Sean McDonald had a double and a triple in the 2-0 win.  In the consolation title game on Saturday, Boise jumped out to an early lead and defeated Idaho Falls , 9-0. Jake Crawford (6-1) threw six innings of 2-hit ball, striking out five, and Sean McDonald closed out the game on the mound. Charlie Forsythe finished a stellar career at BHS with two hits, including a two-run double, senior Marshal Nelson had two more, and sophomore Gregg Simonds hit a 2-run home run in the third inning to cap off a Boise rally.

The Braves finished the season 21-7, and have fourteen juniors and two sophomores on the roster. Look out for the Braves in 2008!—Don Coberly

Girls Lacrosse-- The Boise High Girls Lacrosse team had an exciting playoff week. We faced the team from Skyview on Tuesday. We acknowledged our 8 seniors who are graduating, dedicating the game to them.  Boise defeated Skyview 20 to 4. On Thursday we played Bishop Kelly on their home turf. The temperature reached over 90 yet the Boise players played with intensity and focus. Both teams came to play a very evenly matched contest. The semifinal win could have been earned by either team, but unfortunately it came down to one goal scored in the last minutes of the game by BK. The score was Boise 6 - BK 7. Goals were made by Emily Bergquist 2, Megan John 2, Taylor Shute 1 and Hannah Meyers 1. On Saturday we played in a consolation game against Borah. Borah definitely came with a huge "Beat Boise" attitude and the match proved to be a great game of lacrosse. Things were tight, with Boise tied at the half and fighting for every ball possession. With less then 10 minutes remaining, the Boise crew decided to "Beat Borah" and answered them with a final score of 10 to 6. Boise goals were made by Megan John 4, Emily Bergquist 3
