From the Librarian:

1) Long summer days - bring a book along!  Pick up your Summer Reading List before heading out for vacation.  Titles are available at most local libraries.  Read a good book, and pass it on!

2) Please note:  during final exams the library is a quiet study zone.  Computers will be turned OFF during exams, unless by prior arrangement.  Study groups are welcome.

 

Career Center News:

--The new Senior Map is out.  Stop by the Career Center and check it out.

--Any junior interested in being a Lunch Buddy Coordinator for the upcoming school year, pick up an application in the Career Center today.

--Idaho Business Week is still looking for a few good students to participate in their summer camp program for running your own business.  The Apprentice “Troy McClain” will be present all week at the camp.  Applications available in the Career Center .

--SAT Online Registration for 2007-2008--Students can get a head start on college planning for 2007-08. In early June, they can go online to register for 2007-08 SAT tests. The 2007-08 SAT test dates, fees, and registration deadlines are posted on the Web at: http://collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg.html under Calendar & Fees. This service is also available by phone for students who have previously registered for the SAT.

AP French Students: Next year’s students--we will meet today, June 4 in Room 527 to talk about AP for next year.

Junior Ann Staats has been accepted to the 2007 Summer Seminar for High School Juniors at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland , Oregon .  Bravo!

 

Hats off to seniors Delia Arechiga and Claudia Brandt and junior Beatriz Terriquez who were chosen to represent Boise High School as delegates to the Hispanic Youth Symposium held in Sun Valley April 27-29, 2007.

Senior Corner

--Senior Fines!!!  This is important! Outside the attendance office is a list of all senior fines.  Seniors must also check with the cafeteria & the library for fines.  If your fines are not paid, your cap & gown will be held until they are.  Please take care of your fines through the ASB or cafeteria!

BHS Girls Basketball - Attention lady hoopsters!  There's still room available for all three girls’ basketball camps but hurry, there's a late fee to register after the June 5th deadline!  We offer camps for grades 1-12!  Contact Head Coach Kim Brydges at 854-4270 or email at kim.brydges@boiseschools.org for more information.  Camp brochures are available in the main office at Boise High.

BHS junior Katrin Finch qualified for the Junior Nationals in Gymnastics in Cincinnati .  Way to go!!

 

Junior Lindsay Dale and sophomore Jean Schroeder have been accepted to the Boston Conservatory five-week intensive summer dance program.  Congratulations!!

 

Summer Athletic Physicals are Thurs, Aug. 2, Taco Bell Arena – mark your calendars! Boise High boys will be seen at 9:30 am and Boise High girls will be seen at 2:30 pm. An information letter and forms will be sent out in July.  As a reminder, the Idaho High School Athletic Association mandates that any student participating in a school sanctioned sport have a screening physical exam in both the 9th and 11th grades.  Students need to bring a copy of their immunization records to the exam and a $20 check made out to their high school. The entire $20 is donated to the high school athletic training department. Students also have the option of having their physical performed by their primary care physician.

Give your input on textbooks--The Boise School District is adopting textbooks for Spanish 1 and 2, Mathematics 7, and History of Western Civilization. Textbooks will be on public display at the District Services Center , 8169 W. Victory Rd. , Boise , from Mon, May 14 through Fri, June 8. Patron input about these recommendations is welcomed and encouraged. Formal recommendations for textbook adoption will be made to the Board of Trustees on Monday, June 11 at the regular board meeting.
