2006 - 2007 Grants

At our May 1st meeting, we were able to allocate $30,800 back to teachers and staff at Boise High School!  This is in addition to the already granted money of $14,800 in the fall ’06  for a total of $45,600 this year alone!!!  All of these monies were generated by fund raising done by the Boise Brave Boosters, directed by the Board.  Please see the attached spreadsheet from Spring ’07 for the individual breakdown of how the money is being spent.

A little about the process: 

All teachers were notified in April, 2007 that grant monies were available and to apply in writing before Ap. 25.  We received requests for a total of $75,185 in funding!!  Yes, there is a huge need at BHS.  At this time we were able to fund $21,000 to technology from total $$$ generated ($33,800) in the “Fund A Need” portion of the Auction.  “Fund A Need” this year (2007,) was designated for Interwrite Boards and Accessories for the classrooms.  We are buying 10 boards w/ Blue Tooth wireless capability along w/ several Portable Writer Pads and Clicker Sets bringing our total expenditure from “Fund A Need” to $21,000 at this time.  The balance of $12,300 will be allocated next school year.  We funded approximately $10,000 to all other areas of request:  Academics, Athletics and Activities over and above the $21,000.

Where does this money come from?

It comes from generous members, donors, alumni, faculty and parents just like you!  It is Boise Brave Boosters and the Parent Board who raise these funds. 

How is the money being spent?

From our “Live and Let’s Give ‘007” Auction we netted $92,000.  From this figure we are separating the $33,800 as “Tech. money” from Fund A Need.  We were left with $58,200 less $6,000 for each of the next two years for our working budget = $46,200.  This number then is to be divided into four installments (2 allotments for 2 years) = $11,550 per each.  We spent $10,000 of this allotment at this time.  It really sounded like we had a lot of money after netting the $92,000 from the Auction but we have already spent over $30,000 of that in the blink of an eye, all for very worthy requests from our teachers to better BHS and our students’ education.  Our desire is to continue fund raising for BHS and to continue to help fund all areas of need.  Please note the Grant criteria on the spreadsheet.  There can be some gray areas here regarding District responsibilities and what we see are immediate school needs.
